Keystone is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with a population of 24,039 (as of 2010).
geography
Keystone is located approximately 15 km northwest of Tampa . The CDP is crossed by Florida State Road 589 ( Suncoast Parkway , toll).
history
The Orange Belt Railway, completed in 1888, once ran through Keystone from Sanford to Saint Petersburg . After several takeovers, the line was shut down when the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad was founded in 1967.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 24,039 inhabitants were distributed over 8,288 households. The population density was 257.4 inh / km². 86.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 3.9% as African-American , 0.2% as Native American and 5.6% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.5% to several ethnic groups. 10.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 44.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 20.4% of all households. 83.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.89 people and the average family size was 3.17 people.
30.2% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 36.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 49.4% of the population were male and 50.6% were female.
The median annual income was $ 106,683, with 2.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 88.60% of the population, 7.98% spoke Spanish and 3.42% had another mother tongue.
