Egypt Lake-Leto is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 35,282 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Egypt Lake-Leto borders directly on Tampa to the east and south and forms an urban area with the city. The CDP is crossed by US Highway 92 ( SR 580 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 35,282 inhabitants were distributed over 15,506 households. The population density was 2276.3 inh / km². 75.3% of the population identified themselves as whites , 10.8% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 3.7% as Asian Americans . 6.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.4% to several ethnic groups. 60.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 21.4% of all households lived in 33.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 62.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.12.

25.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 32.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 38,189, with 21.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 54.81% of the population, 41.40% spoke Spanish and 3.79% had another mother tongue.
