Eckart Dux
Eckart "Ecki" Dux (born December 19, 1926 in Berlin ) is a German actor , dubbing and radio play speaker .
Life
The son of a senior insurance inspector completed his acting training with Else Bongers in Berlin and made his debut at the Renaissance theater there in 1948 . After that, engagements took him to numerous Berlin theaters, including the stands , the Schlosspark Theater , the Theater am Kurfürstendamm and other venues in Munich , Hamburg , Frankfurt and Stuttgart . As a youthful lead actor and later as a character actor, he took on numerous roles in film and television. One of his most famous films was the DEFA fairy tale film The Singing, Sounding Tree , in which he played the prince. After that he worked exclusively in the West.
Dux has also been extensively involved in dubbing since 1948 and, together with Jürgen Thormann, is one of the longest-serving German speakers. In the 1950s and 1960s he was the standard voice of Audie Murphy , between 1957 and 1991 the standard voice of Anthony Perkins , whom he spoke in the classic Psycho . Dux also dubbed such well-known actors as Van Johnson (inter alia in 23 steps to the abyss ), Steve Martin (inter alia in Solo for 2 , LA Story or Father of the Bride ), Fred Astaire ( inter alia in Easter Walk and Royal Wedding ), the main actor George Peppard in the action series The A-Team and Jerry Stiller in the sitcom King of Queens .
After Joachim Höppner died in 2006, Dux took over the dubbing of Ian McKellen ( Gandalf ) in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy . In the series Designated Survivor (from 2016) he dubbed Geoff Pierson in 12 episodes in the role of former President Cornelius Moss. He can also be heard in the animated film The Boss Baby .
Eckart Dux is also active as a radio play speaker, for example as Flitze Feuerzahn in the radio play series of the same name from Europe (1984 to 1987), as Conni's grandfather in the radio plays in the children's book series Meinefreund Conni , as a narrator in the maritime production Edgar Wallace (from 2004) and in the audio book series Darkside Park (2009) by Ivar Leon Menger . In 2001, Dux set Steve Martin's audio book to Blanker Nonsense to music . He took on guest roles in several episodes of the detective series Die drei ??? and in a case for TKKG . More recently he has taken on regular roles in Titania Medien's horror cabinet series .
Eckart Dux was married to the actress Gisela Peltzer . His current wife is the film editor Marlies Dux . He lives in Sassenburg .
