Egidijus Bauba (born March 25, 1977 in Kaunas , Lithuanian SSR ) is a former Lithuanian ice hockey player and today's coach, who with 98 points is the most successful scorer of the Lithuanian national ice hockey team . His older brother Dainius was also a Lithuanian national player.

Career

Egidijus Bauba began his career as an ice hockey player in Elektrėnai with the local SC Energija , for whom he played in the East European Hockey League at the age of 18 . In 1996 he moved to the Czech Republic and initially played for HC Slezan Opava , who used him not only in the Czech U20 league, but also in the Extraliga , the country's highest senior division. From 1997 to 1999 he played for various lower class clubs in the first division and the second division of the Czech Republic. He was 1998 with the HC Šumperk champion of the third class 2nd division, but failed in the promotion games to the 1st division.

He then played again until 2006 for his home club from Elektrėnai, for which he was in the Lithuanian and Latvian leagues , in which he was top scorer in 2004, and the East European Hockey League on the ice. In 2001 he won the Lithuanian championship with SC Energija . In the 1999/2000 season he also played at Tiwali Minsk in the Belarusian extra league and was with the club of Belarusian champions . The seven years in Elektrėnai were followed by four years with the Latvian DHK Latgale in the Latvian league, in which he was nominated for the All-Star Game in 2008 and was both top scorer and top scorer in 2010.

In 2010 he moved to England, where he first worked for the Swindon Wildcats in the English Premier Ice Hockey League and then with the Bristol Pitbulls in the National Ice Hockey League . From 2014 to 2016 he ended his career with the Norwegian second division club Bergen IK , where he has been an assistant coach since 2016.

International

For Lithuania, Bauba took part in the junior division at the U18-C European championships in 1994 and the U18-C2 European championships in 1995 , when he was the top scorer of the tournament, as well as in the U20-C2 world championships in 1995 and the U20-D world championships in 1996 and 1997 , when he was voted the best striker of the tournament.

In the senior sector, he was first in the C2 world championship in 1995 , the D world championship in 1996 and the C world championships in 1997 , 1998 , 1999 and 2000 in the Lithuanian squad . After switching to the current division system, he played for his colors at the World Championships in Division I in 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2015 . In 2002 , when he was the top scorer and top scorer of the tournament, and in 2004 he played with his team in Division II, each of which was immediately promoted to Division I.

He also competed for Lithuania in the qualifying tournament for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . With 98 points, he is the best scorer in the history of the Lithuanian national team.
