Elliot Lake is a city in the Algoma District in southeastern Ontario , Canada .

The city is located on the east bank of Lake Elliot and is approximately 50 km west of the city of Sudbury.
history
Elliot Lake was officially founded in 1957. As part of the major Ontario territorial reform , Elliot Lake was merged into one municipality in 1990 and was granted city rights.
Residents
Elliot Lake has a low population and density for Ontario due to the city's isolated location. Most of the residents are employed in mining, forestry and the public sector.
In 2016 the population was 10,741.
