Elsebeth Mercedis Gunnleygsdóttur (born October 26, 1963 in Klaksvík , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese police officer and politician of the conservative People's Party ( Fólkaflokkurin ). She has been a member of the Løgting since 2011 .

career

Elsebeth Mercedis Gunnleygsdóttur worked for two years (1983-85) as an assistant at Postverk Føroya after graduating from school . Then she began training with the police.

politics

Elsebeth Mercedis Gunnleygsdóttur has been a member of the city council of her hometown Klaksvík since 2009. She also sat on various committees there.

At the end of October 2011 she was elected to the Løgting for the first time with 344 personal votes. She chaired the Justice Committee and was also a member of the Welfare Committee.

In the elections for Løgting on September 1, 2015, she was re-elected with 371 personal votes. After Annika Olsen left the party , she is the only female MP not only in her parliamentary group but also in the entire opposition.

family

Ellinor Maria and Gunnleyður Jakobsen's daughter is married to Finn Hansen. The couple has three children.
