Henrik Old (2012)

Henrik James Frits Old (born June 20, 1947 in Vágur , Suðuroy , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese fisheries captain and politician . He was a member of the Social Democrats in Løgting for many years and has been Faroese Transport Minister since mid-September 2015.

Henrik Old has worked as a fisherman since 1964 and as a fishing captain (fiskiskipari) since 1967.

politics

From 1984 to 2008 he sat at Løgting, where he chaired the Fisheries Committee, among other things. He was also a member of the West Nordic Council for many years and chaired it several times. At the end of October 2011 he was re-elected as a member of the Løgting.

On September 1, 2015, he was re-elected as Løgtings MP with 387 personal votes. On September 15, 2015 he was appointed Minister of the Interior in the Faroese state government by the new Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen . Four days later, the Ministry of the Interior was renamed the Ministry of Transport in order to better emphasize the core area of ​​the tasks. The other tasks of the former Minister of the Interior were integrated into the Ministry of Health by Sirið Stenberg . Since then, Hendrik Old has been Minister of Transport for the Faroe Islands.

Henrik Old is the son of Henrikka (née Jacobsen) and Dennis William Connor Old. After the early death of his mother, Inger and Johannes Joensen grew up. He is married to Elsebeth Old (née í Gong) and the couple has four children.
