Jógvan á Lakjuni (born November 13, 1952 in Fuglafjørður , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese politician of the conservative People's Party ( Fólkaflokkurin ) and has been President of Løgting since November 2011 .

Jógvan á Lakjuni is the son of Maria and Jákup Oluf á Lakjuni. He is married to Oddvør, nee Gunnarsson. Together they have four sons and a daughter.

Lakjuni is a teacher and studied at the University of the Faroe Islands . 1969–72 he worked as a seaman, 1977–89 as a primary school teacher in Fuglafjørður. Since 1989 he has been a teacher at the commercial school in Kambsdalur . 1994-96 he sat on the state school board, whose chairman he was a year and a half.

Lakjuni has been a member of the Løgting since 1998. From 2004 to 2008 he was Minister of Health.

In his private life, Lakjuni is a musician who has composed many songs. In the 1980s he was frontman of the Faroese band Bros . Lakjuni is not a member of the Lutheran people's church , but a brother congregation .
