Kristina Háfoss (born June 26, 1975 in Denmark ), née Danielsen, is a Faroese politician from the left-wing Republican Tjóðveldi and was Minister of Culture in the Faroe Islands' state government in 2008 . She has been Finance Minister in the Faroese state government since mid-September 2015 .

Life

Kristina Háfoss studied in Denmark and did her Bachelor in Economics in 1988 and in Law at the University of Copenhagen in 2001 . In 2002 he graduated as a Cand.jur. and in 2003 as Cand.polit.

From 1998 to 1999 she worked in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from 1999 to 2000 in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. She worked for the Faroese State Chancellery in the summer of 1999 and 2000. From 2000 to 2001 she was an economic advisor in connection with the project for the development of the Faroese Outer Islands ( útoyggjar ).

She was a member of the board of the Faroese Academic Association MFS and was chairwoman from 1999 to 2000. From 2001 to 2002 she was Vice President of the Republicans in the South Streymoy Area .

From 2002 to 2004 she was a member of the Faroese parliament, Løgting , where she was a member of the finance and chairperson of the local council. In 2008 she returned to politics when she was surprisingly appointed Minister of Culture in the left-wing government of Eidesgaard II on February 4th . On August 30, 2008, Háfoss announced her resignation from the ministerial post for personal reasons.

On September 15, 2015, she became Minister of Finance in the newly formed Faroese state government under Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen .

Kristina Háfoss is the daughter of John P. Danielsen and Helena Zachariasen from Klaksvík . Her mother is the daughter of the Faroese politician Louis Zachariasen .

Kristina is married to Ronnie Háfoss. The couple live in Hoyvík , the northern suburb of Tórshavn.
