Entrammes is a French commune with 2,256 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Mayenne in the region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Laval and the canton L'Huisserie (until 2015: canton Laval-Est ). The inhabitants are called entrammais .
geography
Entrammes is about ten kilometers south-southeast of Laval am Mayenne , which borders the municipality in the west. Entrammes is surrounded by the neighboring communities Laval in the north and northwest, Bonchamp-lès-Laval in the north, Forcé in the northeast, Parné-sur-Roc in the east, Maisoncelles-du-Maine in the southeast, Villers-Charlemagne in the south, Origné in the southwest, Nuillé-sur-Vicoin to the west and L'Huisserie to the west and northwest.
Part of the Laval-Entrammes airfield is located in the northern municipality. The national route 162 runs through Entrammes .
history
In 863, the Treaty of Entrammes was concluded between Charles the Bald and the Breton Duke or King Solomon . With that, a small stretch of land, the Entre-deux-Eaux , fell to Brittany .
During the eighth religious war , the royal army, with the support of English auxiliary troops, succeeded on May 2, 1593 in defeating the Catholic league at Le Port-Ringeard . However, the victory was largely insignificant for the outcome of the war.
On October 26, 1793, the battle of Entrammes took place here between the republican troops and the Vendée rebels . In doing so, the united and outnumbered troops of the Vendée managed to clearly defeat the Republicans.
