Eva Mendes , born Eva de la Caridad Méndez (born March 5, 1974 in Miami , Florida ) is an American actress and model .

Life

Mendes, the youngest daughter of Cuban parents, was born in Miami and grew up with three siblings in Los Angeles ( Silver Lake , Echo Park ), where she still lives today. She attended Hoover High School in Glendale and later California State University in Northridge. She dropped out of business studies in favor of acting.

Career

After some commercials, u. a. for Revlon and DKNY , and minor guest roles in television series and music videos (including Miami by Will Smith ), she became known to a larger audience in 2001 for her supporting role alongside Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke in Training Day . In the same year Mendes starred in the action film Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal and Earl Simmons (DMX) .

In 2003 she was seen in three films on the big screen. She played a cop in 2 Fast 2 Furious and she played a similar role in Out of Time . She also worked on the sequel to Desperado , Sometime in Mexico (alongside Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp ). After that, she starred in the comedy Hitch . Her German dubbing voice is Sandra Schwittau , who dubbed Bart Simpson in the animated series The Simpsons .

At the side of Nicolas Cage Mendes had an appearance in the 2007 comic book version Ghost Rider . Since summer 2008 she has been working as a model for the fashion and perfume brand Calvin Klein . Some of the recordings have been criticized for their freedom of movement.

Private life

In early February 2008, Mendes was admitted to the Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah . Nothing was known about the background. Mendes left the clinic again in early April 2008.

Mendes was in a relationship with the Peruvian film producer George Gargurevich until 2011 . She has been with actor Ryan Gosling since late 2011 ; on September 12, 2014 she gave birth to a daughter. In April 2016, the couple's second daughter was born.

Awards

In January 2009, Eva Mendes was named the sexiest woman in the world in the ninth survey by the online magazine Ask Men .
