Everton (seldom also Éverton ), with full name Everton Sousa Soares (born March 22, 1996 in Maracanaú ), is a Brazilian football player . The right-footer is used in the attack centrally or via the left and is under contract with Grêmio Porto Alegre . He is also a Brazilian international.

Career

Everton began playing football with the Maracanaú school teams at the age of nine. At the age of 14 he was spotted at São Bernardo FC from the ABC region, but returned to Fortaleza after just one month . There the offensive player played for Fortaleza EC , where he was previously active in the youth field. During the Copa Carpina 2012 in Pernambuco , Everton caught the eye of Grêmio Porto Alegre's players . The club initially loaned the player out and incorporated him into its youth division. In 2013, Grêmio then acquired 90% of the transfer rights to Everton.

The attacker made it into the professional squad back in 2014. In his first season he played seven games at the state championship of Rio Grande do Sul and as many in the top Brazilian league . He played his first Série A game on April 20, 2014 against Athletico Paranaense , when he came on in the 78th minute. Everton only managed the first league goal in the following season in 2015 , when he scored the goal for the 2-1 result against Goiás EC in the 83rd minute on September 6, 2015 .

At the Copa Libertadores 2016 he ran against Deportivo Toluca on February 16, 2016 and made his debut at international club level, but only made it to the last sixteen with the team. For this, the striker won the national cup with Gremio at the end of the year . As a result, Everton was often taken into account on the left wing and won four other titles with the team between 2017 and 2019, including the Copa Libertadores and the Recopa Sudamericana . Everton left the club in August 2020. By then he had officially played 274 games (69 goals), including:

National team

On August 17, 2018, Everton was appointed to the squad by national coach Tite for the friendly games against the USA on September 7, 2018 and against the national soccer team of El Salvador in the United States on September 11, 2018 . In the game against the USA, Everton came on for Neymar in the 80th minute . Everton scored his first international goal in the 2019 Copa America opener against the Bolivian national soccer team . In the game he was substituted on in the 81st minute for David Neres and scored in the 85th the goal to make it 3-0. With the team he was able to win the title and was top scorer with three goals. Like the Peruvian Paolo Guerrero , Everton also provided a template. However, he needed fewer minutes of action during the tournament and was therefore awarded the Golden Shoe for his greater effectiveness.
