Fakarava (municipality)

Fakarava is a municipality in the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia .

The community consists of 7 atolls, including the Fakarava atoll of the same name . It is subdivided into 3 “ communes associées ” (sub-municipalities). The main town of the municipality is Rotoava on Fakarava. The municipality's INSEE code is 98716.

Since 1977, the atoll has Taiaro , since 2006 the whole community the status of a UNESCO - Biosphere Reserve .
