Fei Comodo was a British post-hardcore band founded in 2003 with influences from metalcore and alternative rock . The band gained attention with the release of the song Go, go! Emo Rangers , which is the theme music of the Mighty Moshin 'Emo Rangers parody . The band is signed to Small Town Records and has already produced two singles, five EPs and one album. The band stated in a post on the band's homepage that they would split up after the release of the album “Behind the Bright Lights”.

history

2003–2009: The beginnings

The band was founded in Essex , East England in 2003 and consists of Mark Halls (vocals), Rob Clemson (drums), Jay Styler (bass), Will Phillipson and Mike Curtis (guitars). Guitarist Will Phillipson and singer Mark Halls have previously played together in a band called "Blu Circle". The band's first line-up came together in college. In college, the musicians discovered that "Comodo" is a musical term. The "Fei" in the band name came about when the then drummer Richard Duvale met a girl by the name. In 2006 the band released their EP Go, go! Emo Rangers on their own. The band signed a contract with Small Town Records and released their debut album They All Have Two Faces in 2008 . Her single Breaking The Ice came out a year later. In December 2008 the band was the opening act for Blessed by a Broken Heart . Fei Comodo played at the Download Festival in 2009 . The band was also awarded the Kerrang! -Award nominated. The second tour took the band through Great Britain, France and the Netherlands.

2010–2012: Behind the Bright Lights and Dissolution

In July 2010 Fei Comodo played at the Sonisphere Festival . In September 2010 the band played at Butserfest , where The King Blues headlined. Shadows Chasing Ghosts , We Are the Ocean , My Passion and Bury Tomorrow also performed at Butserfest .

Between May and July 2011 the group played a tour of Great Britain with the band Shadows Chasing Ghosts , including an appearance at the Make A Scene Festival in Middlesbrough on June 25, 2011, where the group performed together on the “Big Deal Clothing Stage” starred with Annotations of an Autopsy , While She Sleeps and With One Last Breath . A concert in Llangollen, Welsh with Funeral for a Friend and Young Guns was canceled. The group released another EP in 2011 called The Life They Lead . On October 24th, a single for the song Rival Tides was released , which is included on the EP. In November, the group toured together with Exit Ten and Never Means Maybe by the United Kingdom . The concerts took place in Southampton , Brighton , Bedford , Exeter , Cardiff , Guildford , Nottingham , Stoke-on-Trent , Peterborough , Birmingham , Liverpool , Manchester , High Wycombe , Hastings , Norwich , Leeds , Newcastle-upon-Tyne , Aberdeen , Dundee , Glasgow , Sheffield , York and London .

On March 18, 2012 the band played at the Takedown Festival at the University of Southampton . At this festival Skindred , Bleed from Within , Lower Than Atlantis and Bury Tomorrow were confirmed. On July 16, 2012, the group's second studio album was released. This is called "Behind the Bright Lights". After the album was released and another UK tour, the group broke up.

Together with Tom Pullen, Marc Halls, Wil Phillipson and Ash Clarke founded the band Hey Vanity , which, like Fei Comodo, are under contract with Small Town Records. An EP and an album were released through the label.

style

music

The group played a metallic post-hardcore style that has become more popular among young people since the mid-2000s , which also has clear elements from the field of alternative rock and especially pop music (such as classic so-called "sing-alongs"). In addition, the influence of Metalcore can be determined.

The music is very reminiscent of Coheed and Cambria , Thrice , SikTh and Reuben . Mark Halls singing is eclectic. This is how his screams sound like from Alex Pettit from Alexisonfire . The clean vocals are reminiscent of Josh Franceschi from You Me at Six .

The group is best known for the emo youth fashions that emerged from around 2005 - but the style of the band (like the youth phenomenon and many other groups of this style) musically has nothing to do with the actual emo hardcore or screamo .

Productions

The group belongs to the do it yourself scene. All albums and EPs released so far were created in the own music studio that Mike Curtis owns. The debut album "They All Have Two Faces" was also made there, although the band was now under contract with Small Town Records . The musicians describe the international music scene as "greedy for money", which is why the group mainly produced songs without a large budget.
