The Kelowna International Airport is an international airport in the Canadian province of British Columbia . There are 2 cargo terminals and one passenger terminal at the airport. At the airport there are 5 aircraft stands, 24 check-in counters, 8 gates, 3 baggage carousels. There are 321 short-term and 1900 long-term parking spaces available. The airport is open around the clock.

Since the place is classified as an airport of entry and officials from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) are stationed there, entry from abroad is permitted.

history

The airport has existed since 1946. In 1958, the first scheduled flights to Vancouver were offered. The runway was expanded in 1960, it was widened to 5350 feet and paved. The airport was expanded again and again due to the increasing number of passengers. In 2009 the goal was set to handle 1.5 million passengers in 2015. In a first stage, the arrival hall for international passengers was expanded and inaugurated in 2012. In addition, the infrastructure around the airport has been modernized to ensure good accessibility.

There are various airports in Canada, for example Vancouver , Victoria , Calgary , Winnipeg , Toronto and Edmonton . There are also international flights to Seattle in the United States . In addition, there are seasonal flight connections to Cancun , Las Vegas , Phoenix and Varadero .
