The Football League Two 2011/12 was the eighth season of the English Football League Two as the fourth highest division behind the Premier League , the Football League Championship and the Football League One, as well as the 20th season of the third division of the Football League after the introduction of the Premier League in 1992. It started on August 6, 2011. The last game day was May 5, 2012. The top three clubs, Swindon Town , Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town , were promoted directly to Football League One, the clubs to the Places four to seven played in play-off mode for fourth promotion place. Seventh-placed Crew Alexandra won the play-off final . Hereford United and Macclesfield Town had to relegate .
