history
Fortunair Canada was a short-lived Canadian charter airline founded in 1994 by former Nationair OPS employees. M. Saydoux (born in Syria) was the founder. With a Boeing 747-212B of the former Pan Am Airlines (USA) charter flights were carried out between Montreal and Toronto , to Fort Lauderdale , Paris , Nice and other European destinations. Operations began on June 30, 1994 and on August 19 of the same year the airline was grounded for reasons of illegal financing by the former Nationair Canada (still in bankruptcy liquidation). The license was never regained, it also declared bankruptcy in August 1994, so that the passengers were stranded in Mirabel and in France. Fortunair Canada was in financial trouble as the funding for this operation was not clear. Operations ended legally on January 23, 1995.
