Frédérik Cabana (born May 16, 1986 in Fleurimont , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Bietigheim Steelers in the DEL2 since December 2014 .
Career
The 1.82 m tall center first played in the Canadian junior league QMJHL , where he was on the ice for the Halifax Mooseheads between 2002 and 2006 . During this time, the Canadian was selected in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as 171st in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Flyers , who finally signed him in 2006 and initially used the Philadelphia Phantoms farm team . After the left shooter was only used irregularly with the Phantoms at the beginning of the 2008/09 season and instead played for cooperation partners in lower class minor leagues , Cabana moved to the Austrian second division club EC Dornbirn . For the 2009/10 season , the attacker signed a contract with the Heilbronner Falken from the 2nd Bundesliga .
Before the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga 2010/11 , Cabana switched again and from then on played three years for the Ravensburg Towerstars in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , where he was able to achieve the championship title in his first season.
For the 2013/14 season , the Hamburg Freezers announced the attacker's commitment and he signed a two-year contract. The transfer to the German Ice Hockey League was only possible because Cabana will receive a German passport by the start of the season. In November 2014, the contract with the Freezers was terminated at Cabana’s request. According to an official announcement by the club, the player suffered from post-commotional syndrome , which, according to a medical specialist, would not allow the practice of professional sport. Four days later, the Bietigheim Steelers announced the striker's commitment and his immediate entry into training, which caused a sensation in the ice hockey press, as the Hamburg DEL club " felt misled " according to statements by those responsible .

- 2011 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga champion with the Ravensburg Towerstars
