The 2002/03 women's ice hockey Bundesliga season was the 15th Bundesliga season for women in Germany. In the course of the season, TV Kornwestheim was again able to prevail and defend the title of German champion in the final.

The league was carried out by the German Ice Hockey Federation .

mode

The preliminary round was carried out separately in the relays in a single round each against each with a return leg. Then the places 1 to 3 played the intermediate round, the other placed fought for the DEB Women's Cup .

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, the two best teams in each of the two groups that qualified for the final round were determined. The poorly placed of the two groups took part in the cup round within their own preliminary round, taking their results with them. The EC Hannover Seahawks was excluded after the end of the preliminary round and did not take part in the cup round. The games are not officially rated, but have no influence on the standings. The team counts as relegated.

Ascent and descent

In contrast to the previous year, there was again a direct relegation from each regional group. A relegation, as in previous years, was not played out. As a result of the cup round , ESG Esslingen was determined as another relegated team in addition to the suspended Hanover Seahawks team. The GSC Moers and SC Riessersee from the Bayernliga qualified for the coming Bundesliga season as winners of the 2nd Northern League .

Finals

In the final round, the four qualified players wanted to get into the final. The first two players played in two games in the final for the championship, the third and fourth placed played for third place in the small final.
