The Hamburg Football Association 1979/80 was the 35th season of the top amateur class of the Hamburg Football Association . The Association League Hamburg was a league level below the Oberliga Nord . It was held in a relay.

Compared to the previous season , no team from the Oberliga Nord came into the association league, only the three promoted Hamburger SV Amateurs ( promotion after seven years), Holstein Quickborn and SV Börnsen (both in the top Hamburg amateur class for the first time).

The winner was the Hummelsbütteler SV . Together with the runner-up ASV Bergedorf 85 he took part in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord . While Hummelsbüttel won his group and rose, Bergedorf finished his group in third place and missed the rise.

At the end of the season, the teams had to relegate to the last three places. The SV Börnsen had to relegate after one season, the Buxtehuder SV after six seasons and the Harburger TB 1865 after three seasons.
