The Football Association League Hamburg 1988/89 was the 44th season of the highest amateur class of the Hamburg Football Association . The Association League Hamburg was a league level below the Oberliga Nord . It was held in a relay.

Compared to the previous season , no team from the Oberliga Nord came into the association league, only the three promoted HEBC Hamburg (re- promotion after 18 years), TuRa Harksheide (return after 13 years) and Ahrensburger TSV (re- promotion after 26 years).

The winner was the amateur team of Hamburger SV . Together with the runner-up FC Süderelbe , he took part in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord . HSV won their group and rose, while FC Süderelbe finished their group in third place and missed promotion.

At the end of the season, the teams had to relegate to the last three places. The Ahrensburger TSV had to leave the association league after one season, the Glashütte SV after two seasons and the Barsbütteler SV after three years.
