life and career

After attending secondary school, Köster began training as an educator , which she gave up three weeks before graduation. She then devoted herself to music and painting , and some of her pictures were also shown in exhibitions. In order to finance her livelihood, she also worked in the Südstadt pub " Out ". It was there in 1987 that she met Jürgen Becker , who was hardly known at the time , and who asked her to do a few skits for a radio show. Gaby Köster thought the guest was crazy, but joined in anyway and wrote a text. She was surprised when it was actually used on WDR radio in weekend entertainment , a program broadcast on Saturdays from 4 to 6 p.m.

Regular radio appearances followed and later own broadcasts. In 1991 she appeared on television for the first time - also on WDR. In 1990 and 1991 she was a member of the "Prunksitzunk", an alternative carnival session that had been brought into being by some renegades of the stunksitzung, at which Wilfried Schmickler , Rich Schwab u. a. participated. From 1991 to 1995 Köster was part of the Stunksitzung ensemble . Köster became known to a broader television audience through guest appearances on RTL Saturday Night . From 1996 until the end of the program in 2005, she was part of the permanent ensemble of the show 7 days, 7 heads produced by Rudi Carrell . In addition, she played the title role of Rita Kruse in the comedy series Rita's World from 1999 . From 2016-2017 she was a juror in the RTL program Die Puppenstars .

Personal

At the beginning of 2008, Köster broke off her tour, which had only started a few weeks earlier. Whoever wants cream has to shake off cows . Later all other performance dates were canceled. Against newspaper reports about an alleged illness, their management - unsuccessfully - took legal steps.

It was only announced at the beginning of September 2011 that Köster had suffered a severe stroke on January 8, 2008 , the consequences of which, like hemiparesis , still affect her physically today. On September 7, 2011, she stepped into the RTL telecast Star TV for the first time in public again on. About her stroke and the time after that, Köster and Till Hoheneder wrote the book A cold would have been enough - my second chance , which she also read as an audio book. At that time, only stern and stern TV were allowed to show current pictures of her. In the film adaptation of her book, which RTL showed on April 17, 2017 under the title Ein Schnupfen would have been enough , Köster is portrayed by actress Anna Schudt . Köster lives in Cologne and has a son from her divorced marriage with the director Thomas Köller.
