The final of the German Tour 2017 (also German Pool Masters 2018 ) was a pool tournament , which took place from January 2nd to 7th, 2018 in Sindelfingen , Pfullingen and Stuttgart . It formed the end of the fourth season of the German Tour tournament series and was the third edition of the final tournament. Was played GT multiball ; Within a set, two games in each of the disciplines 10-ball , 9-ball and 8-ball were played cyclically .

The winner was the three-time world champion Earl Strickland from the USA, who defeated the Dutchman Ivo Aarts 8: 6 in the final. Maximilian Lechner from Austria and Efren Reyes from the Philippines took third place. Last year's winner Dimitri Jungo was eliminated in the round of 32 against Juri Pisklov .

In the women's category, Tina Vogelmann prevailed 7: 4 against the 2015 winner Ina Kaplan . Defending champion Yini Gaspar was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Melanie Süßenguth . In the handicap competition, Manuel Radu managed to defend his title with a 5-0 final win against Stefan Barth .

German Tour 2017

The German Tour 2017 comprised around 850 tournaments that were held in Germany between December 2016 and November 2, 2017 . According to the number of participants and the amount of the prize money distributed, points were awarded for the German Tour ranking list at the tournaments.

In the preliminary round, which was held from January 2 to 5, 2018 in the Die Drei in Sindelfingen , Magic Pool in Pfullingen and the club home of BC Stuttgart 1891 in Stuttgart , 300 players competed in 50 groups of 6 in the round robin Mode against each other. The top two in each group qualified for the intermediate round. In addition to the 100 players who reached the intermediate round via the preliminary round, 9 players were placed on the tour ranking list (places 2 and 4 to 11) as well as 3 wildcards for this round. The 112 players competed against each other on January 6th in 28 groups of four in a double knockout system . Two players in each group qualified for the final round, for which Roman Hybler , the first in the list, and last year's winner Dimitri Jungo as well as the six participants in the Legends of Pool were all set. On January 7th, the final round was held in Sindelfingen in the knockout system . GT Multiball with alternating break was played in all rounds .

Ladies tournament

The women's tournament was held from January 5th to 7th, 2018. The preliminary round took place in Sindelfingen and Stuttgart , the final round in Sindelfingen.

In the preliminary round, the 28 players who qualified via the women's rankings competed against each other in 7 groups of 4 players in round robin mode . The top two in each group qualified for the final round, which started on the evening of January 6th. In addition, Tina Vogelmann was ranked first and Yini Gaspar as defending champion for the final round, in which the tournament was continued in the knockout system . It was played with alternating break.

Handicap tournament

The handicap tournament was held from January 6th to 7th, 2018. The preliminary round took place in Pfullingen and Sindelfingen , the final round in Sindelfingen.

mode

The 32 best placed players in the handicap ranking, in which players with at least 50 percent disability are listed, were eligible to participate . These were divided into eight groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The eight group winners qualified for the final round. The game was GT-Multiball with alternating break . However, the discipline was changed after every game instead of every second.
