Glencoe is a census-designated place (CDP) in Volusia County in the US state of Florida with 2582 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Glencoe borders directly on the cities of Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach and is around 30 km east of DeLand and around 70 km northeast of Orlando . The CDP is affected by Interstate 95 and Florida State Road 44 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 2582 inhabitants were distributed among 1235 households. The population density was 156.0 inh / km². 96.3% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.0% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.2% to several ethnic groups. 2.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 28.7% of all households lived in 25.0% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 71.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.42 people and the average family size was 2.74 people.

19.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 37.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 48 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 47,212, with 17.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 98.95% of the population and 1.05% spoke Spanish .
