Ormond-by-the-Sea is a census-designated place (CDP) in Volusia County in the US state of Florida with 7406 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Ormond-by-the-Sea is located on a barrier island between the Halifax River (part of the Intracoastal Waterway ) and the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's east coast. The place borders directly on the city of Ormond Beach and is about 45 km northeast of DeLand and about 90 km north of Orlando . The CDP is traversed by Florida State Road A1A .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 7406 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 6080 households. The population density was 1452.2 inh / km². 96.9% of the population identified themselves as white , 0.8% as African-American , 0.3% as Native American and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.8% to several ethnic groups. 3.3% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 14.5% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 45.3% of all households. 54.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.95 people and the average family size was 2.48 people.
12.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 14.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 41.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 55 years. 47.5% of the population were male and 52.5% were female.
