DeLeon Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in Volusia County in the US state of Florida with 2,614 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

DeLeon Springs is about 10 km north of DeLand and about 60 km north of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by US Highway 17 ( SR 15 ). The De Leon Springs State Park is located northwest of the town.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 2614 inhabitants were distributed over 1035 households. The population density was 384.4 inh / km². 69.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 5.8% as African-Americans , 0.3% as Indians and 1.0% as Asian Americans . 20.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 44.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 40.5% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 30.1% of all households. 75.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.16 and the average family size was 3.56.

31.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35 years. 51.7% of the population were male and 48.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 47,036, with 24.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 62.03% of the population and 37.97% spoke Spanish .
