Holly Hill is a city in Volusia County in the US state of Florida with 11,659 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Holly Hill is on the Halifax River , part of the Intracoastal Waterway on Florida's east coast. The city borders directly on the cities of Daytona Beach (south) and Ormond Beach (north) and is about 30 km northeast of DeLand and about 80 km northeast of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 11,659 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 6376 households. The population density was 1154.4 inh / km². 78.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 15.2% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 6.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 31.4% of all households lived in 22.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 51.1% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.12 people and the average family size was 2.75 people.

20.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 48.9% of the population were male and 51.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 27,313, with 27.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 94.42% of the population, 3.76% spoke Spanish and 1.82% had another mother tongue.

On April 8, 1993, the Holly Hill Municipal Building was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .

Holly Hill is crossed and tangent to by US Highway 1 and Florida State Roads 5A and 430 . The nearest airport is Daytona Beach International Airport (around 10 km south).

The crime rate in 2010 was 464 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There were six rapes, 34 robberies, 83 assaults, 163 break-ins, 416 thefts, 91 car thefts and one arson.
