The Gmina Wałcz ( community Deutsch Krone ) is a rural community (gmina wiejska) in the southeast of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship , on the border with the Greater Poland Voivodeship . The main seat of the municipality is the town of Wałcz ( Deutsch Krone ), which itself does not belong to the municipality. With a municipality area of 575.09 km², the rural municipality Wałcz is the largest municipality in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The rural municipality of Wałcz has 12,665 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019). Until 1998 it belonged to the Piła Voivodeship .

The Gmina Wałcz consists of numerous lake areas of the Pojezierze Wałecki ( German Kroner Lake District ) and is crossed by many large and small rivers, u. a. Dobrzyca ( Döberitz ), Piława ( Pilow ), Piławka ( Pilow Fließ ), Świerczyniec ( Fuhlbeck ).
The municipality is located in the northeast of the Powiat Wałecki, which is itself in the northeast of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship . Neighboring communities are:

Road traffic
The rural community Wałcz is located at the intersection of two provincial and three provincial roads:
- Landesstraße 10: Lubieszyn ( Neu Linken ) / Germany - Płońsk ( Plhnen ) (former German Reichsstraße 104 from Lübeck to Schneidemühl )
- Landesstraße 22 : Kostrzyn nad Odrą ( Küstrin ) / Germany - Grzechotki / Russia (former Reichsstraße 1 from Aachen via Berlin - Königsberg (Prussia) to Eydtkuhnen )
- Voivodship road 163 : Kołobrzeg ( Kolberg ) –Wałcz (former Reichsstraße 124 with the same route)
- Voivodeship Road 178 : Wałcz – Oborniki ( Obornik )
- Voivodeship Street 179 : Piła ( Schneidemühl ) - Rusinowo ( Ruschendorf ).
Rail transport
By 1945, four railway lines met in Deutsch Krone, one of which is still served today by the Polish State Railways (PKP):
- Line 403: Piła – Ulikowo ( Schneidemühl – Wulkow )
The line 416 Wałcz – Wierzchowo ( Deutsch Krone – Virchow ) was discontinued in 1992.
The railway lines from Deutsch Krone to Flatow (now Polish: Złotów) and from Deutsch Krone via Schloppe (Człopa) to Kreuz (Krzyż Wielkopolski) also no longer exist .
