Groß Jägersdorf (older spelling Groß-Jägersdorf , Russian Моторное , Lithuanian Gros Jegersdorfas ) is a deserted area in the area of Swobodnenskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Swoboda (Jänischken , 1938–1946 Jänichen) ) (Prussia ) in Kaliningrad Oblast ( Koenigsberg region ) ( Russia ). It is located five kilometers southwest of Meschduretschje (Norkitten) , 23 kilometers west of the city of Chernyakhovsk (Insterburg) .

history

The establishment of Jegersdurff fell in the period before 1446. On August 30, 1757 took place in the United Jägerndorf the Battle of Gross-Jägersdorf instead. Between 1874 and 1945 the place seat and its name to a newly constructed was the district of which the district Insterburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

In 1910 there were 423 inhabitants in Groß Jägersdorf. Their number fell to 307 by 1933 and was only 290 in 1939.

In 1945 Groß Jägersdorf came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia following the war and in 1946 was given the Russian name “Motornoje”. In 1947 the village was assigned to the Chernyakhovsk Rajon ( Insterburg district ) and at the same time incorporated into the Kamenski selski soviet (Dorfsovjet Kamenskoje (Saalau) ). But the local office was only inhabited for a short time and was then given up.

On January 1, 1945, four communities formed the district of Groß Jägersdorf: Eichenstein, Groß Jägersdorf, Lehwald and Otterwangen.

The battle of Groß-Jägersdorf between Russia and Prussia took place near the village in 1757.

Until 1945 Groß Jägersdorf was one of 24 localities that were parish with their majority Protestant population in the parish of the Norkitten Church (today in Russian: Meschduretschje). That was part of the church district Insterburg in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
