Uschakowo ( Russian Ушаково , German  Pregelau , until 1928: Kutkehmen und Stablacken, Ksp. Puschdorf ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Tschernjachowsk in chernyakhovsky district .

Geographical location

Uschakowo is located on the south bank of the Pregel (Russian: Pregolja), 25 kilometers west of the city of Chernyakhovsk (Insterburg) . The place can be reached via a cul-de-sac (municipal road 27K-096) between Talpaki ( Taplacken , 6 km) and Meschduretschje ( Norkitten , 5 km) from the federal road A229 . The nearest train station is Puschkarjowo (Puschdorf) on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoje railway line (Königsberg – Eydtkuhnen / Eydtkau) - a section of the former Prussian Eastern Railway - for onward travel to Lithuania and the Russian heartland.

Kutkehmen

In 1874 Stablacken came to the newly established district of Puschdorf (today in Russian: Puschkarjowo) in the Insterburg district . To distinguish it from the rural community of the same name in the Pelleningken parish (now in Russian: Priosjornoje), which is also located in the Insterburg district , the place was also called "Stablacken, Puschdorf parish". In 1910 there were 217 inhabitants in Stablacken.

Pregelau

On October 17, 1928, the manor district of Kutkehmen and the village of Stablacken merged to form the new rural community of Pregelau. Until 1945 it belonged to the Puschdorf district . In 1933 Pregelau had 377 inhabitants, in 1939 there were 342 inhabitants.

Ushakovo

As a result of the Second World War Pregelau came with the northern East Prussia to the Soviet Union . In 1950 the place was given the Russian name Uschakowo (as Kutkehmen and Stablacken). The place was assigned to the village soviet Mezhduretschenski selski Sowet in the Chernyakhovsk Raion and after its dissolution in 1961 came to the Bereschkowski selski Sowet . From 2008 to 2015 Ushakovo belonged to the rural municipality of Svobodnenskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the city district of Chernyakhovsk.
