The Capel S. Grain ( Grainbrunn parish church ) was mentioned in a visitation protocol in 1544 from the historic parish of Großreinprechts, which dates back to the founding time . This became independent in 1784. Both belong to the Deanery Zwettl to this day .

At the end of the 19th century the place had over 300 inhabitants, since then the population has gradually decreased, but the number of buildings has doubled.

Worth seeing are the Karner , a holy water basin from the 13th century as well as the small two-bay chapel vaulted around 1400 , a Gothic baptismal font from the 15th century and two late baroque grave crosses made of wrought iron from the 2nd half of the 18th century.
  • Farm museum: The museum of farm equipment in the vicinity shows the development and creation of equipment and furnishings. It is also dedicated to peasant art (farm boxes and chests, portraits of saints, etc.), which played an important cultural role in the preservation of local customs in the earlier, except for the cities, mainly peasant, rural culture of Lower Austria.
