The Haarenniederung is a nature reserve in the city of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony .

General

The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 305 is 44.1  hectares in size. A large part of it is part of the FFH area "Haaren und Wold bei Wechloy". The area has been under nature protection since September 2019. To a large extent, it replaces the previous "Haarenniederung" protected landscape area that was designated in 1991 . In the west it borders on the nature reserve "Bäkental der Haaren, Putthaaren and Ofener Bäke including part of the Wold". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Oldenburg.

The nature reserve is located in the west of Oldenburg. It includes a section of the lower reaches of the hair and the adjacent lowland areas. The hair is developed with mostly steep banks. In sections the banks are paved with fascines . The hair is moist Niederung fallow with Hochstaudenfluren , marshes , vineyards and reeds , partly with wood islands and hedgerows , embossed. Parts of the lowland are used extensively as grassland .

The nature reserve is the habitat of numerous plants and animals. Moist and wet meadows accommodate u. a. Marsh marigold , marsh orchid , marsh orchid , Straußblütigen loosestrife , Great rattle , Yellow meadow rue , tubed water fennel , water ragwort , marsh pea , Bogbean , Hirsesegge , thread rush, and sometimes also Eleocharis acicularis . Großseggenriede are formed by slim sedge , swamp sedge and two-row sedge . In addition, reeds, cane grass and water plumes are reeds. Tall herb plants are z. B. from Genuine meadowsweet , purple loosestrife , Exceptional Gilbweiderich , Yellow meadow rue , shaggy willow herb , Angelica sylvestris , Real bindweed , water groundsel, skipjack comfrey , skipjack valerian and Marsh Woundwort formed. The area is also home to the endangered marsh fern . In the area are u. a. Water rail , moorhen , kingfisher , tree sparrow , redstart , gray flycatcher , green and small woodpecker native. Reed beds provide habitat for reed warbler , reed bunting and grasshopper warbler . The area is also home to locusts such as swamp hoppers and saber-thorn insects and dragonflies such as the banded demoiselle , bat's damsel , spotted darter and lesser shell-eye . The area is also the habitat of various amphibians , including the sea ​​frog . Hair and hair lowlands are hunting habitat of bats Serotine , Daubenton's bat , Noctule , Pipistrelle and pipistrelle .

Flooding water vegetation and the like settle in the hair. a. made from comb spawn , water star and yellow pond rose . The hair is home to perch , ruffe , gudgeon , roach , three-spined stickleback , loach , Aland , bream , occasionally also eel , pike , hazel , silver bream , burbot , rudd and bitterling and Muschalarten pea and painter's mussel .

The Drögen-Hasen-Pond in the hair lowlands is included in the nature reserve. The near-natural pond is used as a fishing water. It is surrounded by trees. The pond has water and floating leaf vegetation. In the shore area are Verlandungs zones with reeds formed.

In the west, the nature reserve borders on Kreisstraße 137, in the east on the Uhlhornsweg campus of the University of Oldenburg . In the north and south it borders on built-up properties in the city of Oldenburg and on areas of the “Haarenniederung” nature reserve. The nature reserve is of two roads between the districts of Oldenburg Bloherfelde and Wechloy crossed

The area is also used for local recreation . A hiking trail runs to the south.
