The stockpile Zollern is a slag heap in Dortmund Bövinghausen , 350 meters southwest of the Zollern located. The tailings were originally brought to the dump using a cable car. Due to the mountain offset that is common at the beginning of mining , the heap only reaches an unspectacular 15 to 20 meters difference in height from the colliery site.

The Dellwiger Bach ran for many years piped beneath the heap along, was exposed to it in the 1970s again. Since then, the heap has had a deep cut along the stream. It is also separated from the Lütgendortmund Volksgarten by the railway line . The heap is part of the Dellwiger Bach nature reserve .

The dump is heavily forested and with its typical softwood species such as poplar , robinia and plane tree, it is also home to woodpeckers , especially the green woodpecker . The conspicuously blue flowering adder's head grows on the warm train tracks . The birch mushroom can be found under the birches along the damp stream .

The dump is located on the Emscher Park Radweg Süd and offers information boards near the creek cut. The regional cycle path R 31 is the connection to the Emscher Park cycle path north. The LWL industrial museum located in the Zeche Zollern offers biological excursions to the heap. In addition, the house Ripshorst also offers special industrial nature tours, including on the subject of bats .
