Hamburg 1 is a private Hamburg Regional - TV station . It has a technical range of around 1.9 million households and broadcasts beyond the city limits, by cable to Kaltenkirchen , Büchen , Harsefeld and Lüneburg . It has been included in Vodafone Kabel Deutschland's digital programming since April 25, 2013. The broadcaster has been represented on the IPTV platform Telekom Entertain since December 1, 2011 .

On May 3, 1995, at 6 a.m., Hamburg 1 went on air, the city's first and only commercial local television station. Mayor Henning Voscherau then pressed the red button.

In the 1990s, Hamburg 1 took over the television program from Super RTL as a cover program and only produced regional magazine programs . On January 6, 2011, a TV duel between Olaf Scholz and Christoph Ahlhaus took place live in Hamburg 1. The organizers were Hamburg 1 , Radio Hamburg , Oldie 95 and BILD Hamburg . Since 1999 Hamburg 1 has organized the annual TV gala Hamburger of the Year , in which outstanding personalities of the past year are honored.

From April 2001 to July 2002 the then quite popular cover program of Sun-TV was broadcast on Hamburg1.
