Honky Tonk (Festival)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Honky Tonk (English " night club with music ") is an annual musical event that takes place in over 50 cities in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . You pay a single entry on the day of the event and can celebrate in all participating pubs, clubs and bars. The event is advertised jointly and usually carried out with a supporting program, such as open-air stages, shuttle buses and street events.

The focus of the event is on live music. The "artist mark" is spared. Honky Tonk is a registered trademark. The organizer of these festivals is the Blues Agency GmbH with the managing director Dominik Brähler. The event concept found numerous imitators who carry out events with the same character under different names.

history

The first Honky Tonk took place in Schweinfurt in 1993 . This is where the idea of the pub festival from the local Blues Agency was born. The event concept quickly spread to other large and medium-sized cities, as it has a greater pull on the audience compared to individual concerts and the cooperation with local pubs results in synergy effects and advertising opportunities on site.

The tour operator Blues Agency, initially only based in Schweinfurt, also has a place of business in Leipzig .
