Hyrrokkin (also Saturn XLIV) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn .
discovery
The discovery of Hyrrokkin by David C. Jewitt , Scott S. Sheppard , Jan Kleyna and Brian G. Marsden on recordings from December 12, 2004 to April 30, 2006, was announced on June 26, 2006.
Hyrrokkin was initially given the provisional designation S / 2004 S 19. In April 2007, the moon was named after the giantess Hyrrokkin from Norse mythology .
The name Hyrokkin is often used for the moon, and this name was first published. However, the Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN) of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) later decided to use the original Nordic spelling.
Orbit data
Hyrrokkin orbits Saturn in a retrograde orbit in approximately 932 days. The orbit eccentricity is 0.333, with the orbit inclined at 151.4 ° to the ecliptic .
Structure and physical data
Hyrrokkin has a diameter of about 8 km.
