IC 1858 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 267 million light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1859 and IC 1860 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 5, 1897 .
