IC 1857 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Aries north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 405 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1847 .
The object was discovered on January 7, 1896 by Stéphane Javelle .
