IC 1859 is an active spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is an estimated 258 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1858 and IC 1860 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 5, 1897 .
