Jampil ( Ukrainian Ямпіль ; Russian Ямполь Jampol , Polish Janpol ) is a village in the north of Ukraine with about 4600 inhabitants (2014).
Jampil is the administrative seat of the Rajon of the same name in Sumy Oblast .
The place originated in the 17th century and was then part of the aristocratic republic of Poland (in the Czernihów Voivodeship ). In 1667 he became part of Tsarist Russia through the Treaty of Andrussovo . It has been an urban-type settlement since 1956 .

Jampil is on the left bank of the Ivotka ( Івотка ), an 81 km long, left tributary of the Desna about 175 km northwest of the Oblast center Sumy on the territorial roads T-19-15 and T-19-12 . The city of Druzhba is 19 km northeast and the city of Shostka 28 km southwest of Jampil. The village has its own train station on the Konotop – Navlja railway line .
The settlement council community are still the six villages Dibrova ( Діброва ) Iwotka ( Івотка ) Imschana ( Імшана ) Olhyne ( Ольгине - 2016 Oktjabrschtschyna ) Prudyschtsche ( Прудище ) and Rostov ( Ростов ), as well as the two settlements Nepljujewe ( Неплюєве ) and Prywoksalne ( Привокзальне ).
Personalities
The Ukrainian painter and theoretician of the Russian avant-garde Alexander Bogomazov was born in Jampil in 1880 .
