Mykolaivka ( Ukrainian Миколаївка ; Russian Николаевка Nikolajewka ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast with about 4200 inhabitants (2017).

The village, founded in the second half of the 17th century, received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1957 and was renamed Schowtnewe (Ukrainian Жовтневе ; Russian Жовтневое Schowtnewoje ). Before that, the village was known under the name Mykolaivka-Wyriwska ( Миколаївка-Вирівська ). On May 19, 2016, the place was renamed to its old name Mykolaivka in the course of the decommunization of Ukraine .

Mykolaivka is located in the district of Bilopillja on the bank of the small river Vyr ( Ukrainian Вир ), a tributary of the Seim , 36 km south of the district center of Bilopillja . The regional road P-61 runs through the village .
