Career

Jannik Hansen began his career as an ice hockey player in his Danish homeland at Rødovre SIK , for whom he was active in the Superligaen from 2002 to 2005 . He had previously worked in the club's youth department. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the ninth round as a total of 287th player by the Vancouver Canucks . Initially, the attacker played in the 2005/06 season but for the Portland Winter Hawks in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , who had selected him in the 2005 CHL Import Draft .

His move to the professional field finally took place in the 2006/07 season , when the striker was added to the squad of Vancouver's farm team Manitoba Moose from the American Hockey League . In the same season Hansen made his debut for Vancouver in the National Hockey League when he was used ten times in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup . In the following year , the Dane played mainly for Manitoba in the AHL.

With the start of the 2008/09 season , Hansen is regularly on the ice for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL and established himself there. Only at the beginning of the 2011/12 season, which fell victim to the lockout in the NHL , the striker ran for Tappara Tampere in the Finnish SM-liiga . However, he soon returned to North America and was part of the Canucks squad until the end of February 2017. Shortly before the trade deadline , Hansen was given to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the Russian Nikolai Goldobin and a conditional four-round vote in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft . In addition, his ex-employer took over a fifth of his salary for the rest of the season.

After the 2017/18 season, his expiring contract in San Jose was not extended, so that after more than ten years he returned to Europe and signed a one-year contract with HK CSKA Moscow from the Continental Hockey League (KHL). At the end of the season he won the Gagarin Cup and the Russian championship with the Army Sports Club . After this success he ended his career because he no longer felt physically able to play at a professional level.

International

For Denmark , Hansen took part in the junior division of the U18 junior world championships in Division I in 2002 and 2003 , the U18 junior world championship in 2004 and the U20 junior world championships in Division I in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 World Championships . He also represented the Europe team at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey , where he finished second with the team.
