Joseph Edward "Joe" Corvo (born June 20, 1977 in Oak Park , Illinois ) is a former American ice hockey player of Portuguese origin who played 758 games for the Los Angeles Kings and Ottawa Senators between 1994 and 2014 , Carolina Hurricanes , Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .
Career
Corvo was selected as a Western Michigan University player in the fourth round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings . Until his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2002/03 season, Corvo played for numerous lower-class clubs. During the NHL's failure in the 2004/05 season , Corvo played some games for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League . On July 1, 2006, he signed a four-year contract worth $ 10.5 million with the Ottawa Senators . The franchise transferred him to the Carolina Hurricanes on February 11, 2008 along with Patrick Eaves for Mike Commodore and Cory Stillman .
On March 16, 2008 Corvo managed his first hat trick of his career against the Ottawa Senators - just under a month after his move to his ex-club. In July 2010, he moved to the Carolina Hurricanes . These transferred the defender to the Boston Bruins on July 5, 2011 in exchange for a four-round suffrage in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft . In July 2013, Corvo signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators. There he played 25 games until March 2014 before he was loaned to the Chicago Wolves from the AHL, where he ended his career as an active player after the season.
Restaurant incident
Corvo was arrested in Boston in 2002 after touching the buttocks of a 34-year-old woman in a restaurant . The staff asked him to leave, but Corvo came back, hit the woman and kicked her when she was on the ground. He was then sentenced to a three-year suspended sentence. His employer at the time, the Los Angeles Kings , left it with an internal three-game ban.
