John Friedmann (born August 16, 1971 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German actor and comedian . He first became known under the pseudonym Erkan Maria Moosleitner together with Florian Simbeck as comedy duo Erkan and Stefan .

Life

Friedmann moved to Bad Tölz at the age of six , where he was a member of the Tölz boys' choir during his youth . In Ingolstadt he did his Abitur, completed his community service and got to know Simbeck. Friedmann, like Simbeck, studied in Munich, where he devoted himself to architecture , which he sees as an advantage for his media career: “When it comes to filmmaking, studying architecture is of course also helpful when it comes to spatial thinking, for example tracking shots or lighting. Then you already have a feeling for something like that. "

The artist name "Erkan Maria Moosleitner" is inspired by the actor Charles Muhamad Huber from the ZDF crime series Der Alte and as a reference to the "multicultural society". He was in a relationship with the fashion designer Marion Kleinert for several years. During the shooting of the feature film Erkan und Stefan - Against the Forces of Darkness , he got to know the actress Bettina Zimmermann better in 2001. Meanwhile, however, the former couple have gone their separate ways.

Friedmann only met his father, the German-American fashion photographer André de Plessel, in 2001. De Plessel was unknown to his son until then.

John Friedmann played the leading role in Yasemin Şamdereli’s feature film Ich Chef, du nix (2007), in which, as with the Erkan and Stefan films, he worked on the script. From January 15 to March 1, 2008 he played in the Düsseldorf comedy in the play Männerhort alongside Thomas Freitag , Hagen Henning and Stefan Reck . In the same year he stood in front of the camera with Corey Feldman in the production of Lucky Fritz and with Stephen Baldwin in Shoot the Duke . Friedmann played an SS-Sturmbannführer in the Holocaust drama Wunderkinder by Berlin producers Artur and Alice Brauner , which was shown in the cinema in autumn 2011 .

Friedmann has also been involved in various television productions for a number of years.

On June 1, 2012 his first novel Flaschendrehen Furioso was published by Droemer Knaur , on February 2, 2015 his second Das Blaue vom Himmel .

Friedmann has been one of the speakers for the Pulse of Europe movement in Munich since the beginning of 2017 .
