Production history and cast

Since Universal communicated early on that Jurassic World would be the start of a new trilogy, the US start date of the third part, which later got the title Jurassic World: Dominion , was dated June 11, 2021 in February 2018 . Colin Trevorrow is supposed to work with Emily Carmichael on the script, which is based on a story by him and Derek Connolly . Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will act as producers , while Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to their roles from the two previous films. A month later, Steven Spielberg , who will again serve as executive producer , confirmed that Trevorrow would also direct. He said that the tone of Jurassic World: Dominion will be based on Spielberg's original Jurassic Park and become a kind of "science thriller". He also revealed that there will be no new artificially created dinosaurs, but instead that more focus will be placed on paleontology . He later added that the film would be a celebration of everything previously introduced in the series. He also promised that after the end of Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaurs will not terrorize the cities in Godzilla fashion, as some fans feared, but would mostly move in rural areas. Some of the ideas he voiced at the time were later implemented in the 2019 short film Battle at Big Rock , which is set between Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion .

After long speculations and hints on the part of those involved, it was finally officially confirmed in September 2019 that Jeff Goldblum , Sam Neill and Laura Dern will take up their roles from the first films again. When asked why Neill and Dern did not return until the third part of the Jurassic World trilogy, Trevorrow replied that one did not want to force their appearances, but wanted to bring them about naturally. He also revealed that the viewer will learn what the duo has experienced since Jurassic Park III and how it has developed. In October 2019, the engagement of Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise for further leading roles was announced. The following month it was confirmed that Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda would re-record their roles from the previous film. With the start of filming in February 2020, the return of Omar Sy and Jake Johnson to Jurassic World and the engagement of Dichen Lachman and Scott Haze became public. Also BD Wong confirmed its return for the film. A set photo published by Trevorrow also made it known that Isabella Sermon was again involved . Campbell Scott is said to play the role of Lewis Dodgson , who was played in Jurassic Park by Cameron Thor , convicted of sex offenders in 2016 . Dodgson is slated to appear in Jurassic World: Dominion as CEO of Biosyn Genetics , a competitor to InGen . Michael Giacchino is again responsible for the film music .

Filming and publishing

Filming began on February 19, 2020 in MacMillan Provincial Park on Vancouver Island under the working title Arcadia and should include a total of around 100 days of shooting. Two-week filming began in Merritt on February 25, 2020 . At the same time, recordings were made on Oahu . From March 9, 2020, the film was shot in the woods of Hawley Common Woods and Minley Woods near Camberley and Fleet in Hampshire , using helicopters among other things. On March 13, production was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic . Since most of the previous weeks had been shot with dinosaurs, director Trevorrow said the break was mostly used to start working on the visual effects of these scenes. Compared to the previous films, even more dinosaur animatronics are said to have been used during the shooting of Dominion .

After the UK government gave the go-ahead for film and television productions to resume in the UK in May 2020, filming of Jurassic World: Dominion continued on July 6, 2020 at Pinewood Studios near London . The reason for a prompt return was, among other things, cost increases by the film studio during the corona break. Before shooting began, there was a two-week pre-production phase after an extensive security concept had been worked out together with the British Film Council and US unions. Accordingly, all actors and crew members were tested for SARS-CoV-2 before their return to the film set , and people entering from abroad, including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, also had to go into a two-week quarantine ordered by the government. Further tests are also to be carried out during the shooting, all those involved receive special training and a general mask requirement applies, with the exception of actors who are currently filming. Your Doctor, a private medical facility, was hired to meet medical needs. In addition to doctors, nurses and isolation cabins, 150 hand disinfection stations are also to be made available on site. The set itself is treated with an antiviral fog at night and secured by 1800 warning signs around the location during the day. In total, additional costs of up to nine million US dollars as well as 18,000 SARS-CoV-2 tests are to be incurred for the entire security concept, while Universal insurance cover remains in place without deductions. Filming is scheduled to take place in Malta from the end of August to September 2020 . Due to the increasing number of infections in the island nation and four cases of infection within the production team, only the second unit with around 200 crew members will be active on site. Further filming was originally supposed to take place in Kamloops .

The film is scheduled to hit German cinemas on June 10, 2021 and the US cinemas the following day.
