Küssow is the name of an extinct Pomeranian noble family .

history

The family was first mentioned in a document with Nicolaus Küssow in 1336. The continuous line of the family begins with the advice of Duke Bogislaw VI. and heir to Quitzin and Megow , Heinrich von Küssow († after 1376).

Erasmus Ernst Friedrich von Küssow (1692-1757), Kurtrierer and then imperial chamberlain on 7 November 1723. The Brandeis on the Elbe with the salutation high and Honor in the imperial counts lifted .

The cousins Joachim Friedrich von Küssow (1709–1777), royal Prussian government councilor and heir to Klein Küssow with Verchland and Kunow , Joachim Balthasar von Küssow († after 1752), royal Prussian district administrator and heir to Kloxin , Hans Wilhelm von Küssow , Carl Wilhelm von Küssow , heir to Klücken and George Friedrich von Küssow , majorate to Quitzin, received the Prussian permission to use the title of count on August 8, 1752.

The limestone grave slab on the north wall of the chancel of the Benz Church , which shows the flat relief of the princely Chancellor Jakob von Küssow, who died in 1586 in a knightly garb, was originally located above the deceased's crypt in the center of the chancel.

The family's extensive estates were mainly in the Pomeranian districts of Pyritz and Grimmen, which also included Müggenwalde. But also in the Neumark, for example with Trampe in the district of Soldin , there was longstanding property. The family is said to have owned estates in Mecklenburg too, but not over the Mecklenburg indigenous people . Of the family goods, Klein Küssow with Verchland and Kunow, whose last owner was Count Jochen Friedrich von Küssow († 1777), passed through his daughter Friederike Gottliebe von Küssow to von Zastrow . Friedrich von Zastrow , user of Fideikommiss Verchland with Klein Küssow, established by his great-aunt Friederike von Zastrow, née Countess von Küssow, received a Prussian name association in Berlin on August 15, 1801 with the name von Küssow as von Zastrow called von Küssow . Megow stayed with the Küssow until 1797 , but then fell back to the von Schöning family, who had owned the estate before the Küssow . In Quitzin , the family's ancestral estate, the baroque mansion was built in 1607 for the ducal-Pomeranian councilor and Chancellor Erasmus von Küssow . This estate remained in the possession of the Counts of Küssow until the death of Count Ludwig Julius Erasmus von Küssow († 1824), with whom the male line died out ; a long inheritance dispute in Vienna ensued.

  • The tribe coat of arms shows an uprooted black tree trunk in gold (or silver) from which three red leaves grow. On the helmet with red-gold (red-silver) covers a growing , red-clad and crowned virgin , holding a red leaf in each hand, her crown decorated with a red leaf.
  • The Count crest (1723) shows in gevierten and heart shield (strain Crest) occupied plate: in boxes 1 and 4 in silver two red beams from the lower einwärtswachsend a crowned black bear ; 2 and 3 in gold two black diagonal bars. Three helmets: on the right one with black and silver blankets the growing bear, on the middle one the virgin (family coat of arms) and on the left one with black and gold blankets a natural peacock bump .
