Location of the canton of Haute-Ariège in the Ariège department

The canton of Haute-Ariège is a French constituency in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region . It comprises 47 municipalities in the Foix arrondissement . It was newly created in March 2015 as a result of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons.

geography

The main area of ​​the canton Haute-Ariège is located in the upper valley of the Ariège and in the Donetsan . The villages are all located at heights of around 485  m (Ussat) to 1325  m (Montalliou) and mostly have extensive municipal areas in the hinterland (exception: Les Cabannes ). The highest point at 2912  m is in the territory of the municipality of Aston , but many mountains in the hinterland of the municipalities reach heights of well over 2000  m .
