Orlu is a French commune with 160 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the canton of Haute-Ariège and the Arrondissement Foix .

location

The municipality of Orlu is located in the Pyrenees , around five kilometers southeast of the spa town of Ax-les-Thermes . The municipality is crossed by the Oriège river and extends south to the border with the neighboring Pyrénées-Orientales department . The area is a partly inaccessible high mountain landscape with several peaks over 2600 m. Neighboring municipalities are Ascou in the north-west, Mijanès in the north, Artigues in the north-east, Fontrabiouse in the east, Formiguères in the south-east, Angoustrine-Villeneuve-des-Escaldes in the south, Mérens-les-Vals in the south-west and Orgeix in the west.
