history
Finds from the Gallo-Roman period prove an early settlement. The medieval castle and some churches have disappeared over time. In the Middle Ages, the place was within the province of Languedoc. From 1793 to 1801 the community belonged to the Tarascon district. In addition, Ventenac was in the canton of Lavelanet from 1793 to 1979 and within the canton of Varilhes from 1979 to 2015 . The community was assigned to the Arrondissement Foix from 1801 to 1979. Since then it has belonged to the Pamiers arrondissement. The municipality as it is today was created between 1790 and 1794 through the union of Le Bousquet (s) and Saint-Martin.
