Loubières ( Occitan : Lobièras ) is a French commune with 337 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Foix , the community association Pays Foix-Varilhes and the canton Val d'Ariège (until 2015: canton Foix-Rural ). The inhabitants are called Loubiérois / Loubiéroises .
geography
Loubières is located around 67 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Toulouse in the center of the Ariège department near the small town of Foix . The community consists of the village Loubières, which consists of several districts, some hamlets and scattered settlements and individual farms. The municipality is located on the eastern border of the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park . Large parts of the community are forested. The village is west of the Ariège and is on the D231a in terms of traffic. The N20 from Paris to Spain runs east of the municipality.
Loubières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Crampagna in the north and east, Vernajoul in the south-east, south and south-west and Baulou in the north-west.
history
In the Middle Ages, the place was within the county of Foix , which was a crown domain of the King of France from 1607 until the French Revolution . From 1793 to 1801 the community belonged to the Tarascon district. In addition, Loubières was from 1793 to 1984 within the canton of Foix and from 1984 to 2015 within the canton of Foix-Rural . The municipality has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Foix since 1801. Between 1790 and 1794 Loubières united with the municipalities of La Bouiche (now Labouiche) and Vernajoul . A few years later, Loubières became an independent municipality again.
